The EBAuthentics 2024 highlight reel

2024 has been a big year for the EBAuthentics, filled with plenty of personal and professional milestones. December is a perfect time to pause, reflect and celebrate, so we’ve put together this highlight reel of our proudest moments from the past year.

January

  • The EBA team came together in our Paddington digs to ring in the New Year. Our pals from across Australia travelled to make it, and we were able to meet a few people in person for the first time!
  • We expanded to the ANZ region and welcomed our first client based in New Zealand.

February

  • Our very own Doctor Maria Khan (Head of Research & Insights) was awarded the Best Postgraduate Student Award Paper for her journal article “Caring in the gig economy: a relational perspective of decent work.”
  • Kirsty became a triathlete.

March

  • Hannah took on a new role as Senior Employer Brand Strategist (Client Success), with a focus on ensuring that all our client partners are empowered to bring their EVP and content to life.
  • Candace led the design of a new service for EBA, an enhanced candidate journey audit. This is already adding huge value to our clients.
  • CJ and her partner Ben welcomed Baby Romy to the world.
  • Romesh’s debut novel, When I open the shop, was published.
  • We kicked off our #EmployerBrandingLIVE event series in Melbourne, partnering with Flare and LiveHire to bring the latest employer branding insights and ideas to a packed room of talent legends.

April

  • Romesh’s poetry collection (AUP new poets 10) was published.
  • Julia switched her storytelling style and did her first video interview.
  • Eden took on a new role as Senior Storyteller (EVP Projects), focusing on enhancing our EVP work with clients of all sizes, sectors and places!
  • Eden and Mark spent three days workshopping and filming at a chicken farm, definitely one of our more unique settings. (For clarity's sake, the workshopping was with the employees - not the chickens. We’re not sure if there’s a market for Chicken Value Propositions.)

May

  • Kirsten’s career reached a new low - 1km underground, to be exact! She completed her first video shoot underground in a mine in regional South Australia.
  • We hosted #EmployerBrandingLIVE in Sydney - it was so good to connect with such an engaged audience of P&C, TA and marcomms specialists.
  • Kirsty completed her first adventure race, hiking, biking, and kayaking through bushland to the finish line.

June

  • We wrapped up our in-person leg of the #EmployerBrandingLIVE tour in Brisbane. The energy in the room was incredible!
  • Candace broke a new record at EBA, leading the creation of 113 talent acquisition assets for a single client (including job ads, interview guides and candidate communications). And what a difference they’ll make!
  • Kirsty was awarded the top grade of 2023 for the subject Negotiating Across Borders in her QUT HRM masters program.

July

  • Our team kicked off one of our most complex EBArticulate (EVP & Values) projects yet, facilitating discovery sessions for hundreds of employees across six countries. Maria, Elise, Eden, Julia and Lauren rose to the challenge.
  • The EBA team dialled in for two end of financial year strategy days. Dave facilitated the launch of our new professional development resource centre, and we added EBAdventure leave to our list of EBA perks.
  • After the success of our in-person events, we launched the #EmployerBrandingLIVE webinar series, reaching hundreds more HR / TA / P&C legends across Australia.
  • Amy travelled to Thailand and Vietnam, jetting around on a speedboat island tour and visiting the Cu Chi tunnels.

August

  • Yas enjoyed a particularly unique video shoot experience, directing our videographer while he was harnessed up a power pole.
  • Dave travelled to Ireland, and helped his Aussie son connect with his Irish roots (while enjoying some free babysitting).
  • Tahlia and her partner Harry purchased their first home.
  • Kirsten travelled to Singapore, trying out some new hobbies with a local crafting class.
  • Lauren completed a stage race along the stunning Larrapinta Trail in the Northern Territory.
  • Maria received QUT’s Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award 2023 for her thesis “Working in the gig economy: a relational perspective of decent work.”

September

  • Elise announced she’s expecting another baby to join her family in March 2025.
  • Emma and her partner Ryan welcomed Baby Rocky to the world.
  • Ben travelled to Europe, climbed a really big mountain in Albania, and surfed in the Basque country.
  • Tahlia travelled to Europe, snorkelled in the Balearic Sea and island hopped in Croatia.

October

  • Kirsten dodged crocodiles and cassowaries in a video shoot in Northern Queensland, meeting the custodians who look after our reefs and waterways.
  • Ben swapped his regular WFH set up for high-vis and steel cap boots, for a really powerful video shoot in regional South Australia.
  • We launched our internal EBA Values Award initiative, with Eden being our first winner.
  • Kirsty, Eden and Maria wrote a paper called “Reimagining the employee value proposition: A key to strategic talent management” which was accepted into the 2024 ANZAM conference in Newcastle.
  • Amy finished her university studies (Bachelor of Creative Writing).
  • Tahlia completed a triathlon.

November

  • Amy travelled to Japan, relaxed at a traditional Japanese Ryokan and enjoyed a matcha tea ceremony.

December

  • Mark, Eden and Elise filled their cup, developing an EVP for the supported employees of a large disability support organisation. Watch this space - this one is a game changer!
  • Elise is travelling to Zimbabwe for Christmas with her in-laws family (she’ll be in the air by the time we publish this blog, but we can’t wait to hear all about it when she’s back next year!).
  • Maria was awarded the ANZAM excellence award for her thesis “Working in the gig economy: a relational perspective of decent work.”

There was so much to celebrate this year, and we’re so thankful to our colleagues, partners and friends for sharing these moments with us. We hope you have a wonderful festive season, and look forward to all that’s ahead in 2025!

The EBA team will be offline from December 23 - January 6. If you’d like to send a Christmas card, love letter or gin delivery in the meantime, get in touch at hello@employerbrandingaustralia.com and we’ll get back to you when we can.
